The 2021 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship rolls into the Czech Republic for round six of the season, coming from a new venue at the Autodrom Most. The Tissot Czech Round will however be without Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse), as he and the team will miss their second round as their internal restructuring continues.

However, the 35-year-old Irishman took to Instagram to update everyone on his situation, as he remains upbeat and resilient, and hopes to be back on track soon: “It’s so tough to be sat on the sidelines and miss these vital rounds of the Championship. The plan is to return to racing as soon as possible when the team has had time to regroup.”

Laverty’s season so far hasn’t been ideal, nor has it been without highlights. Despite not scoring points from the opening four races, Laverty burst into the top ten on two consecutive occasions, with a best result of eighth coming in Estoril’s Tissot Superpole Race. Four further point-scoring finishes have followed, so the potential is there with a platform to build from.

Continuing to shed light on the situation and promising to remain in the action for BMW, Laverty said: “RC Squadra Corse is a new team and 2021 has proven to be a tough year for any new venture starting out. We won’t give up and we will aim to come back stronger. In the meantime I’ll continue to test for BMW, so I’ll remain sharp and ready for my return to racing as soon as possible.”
